Enterprise System Monitoring Engineer


  • Install, maintain and configure BMC Truesight Operations Management
  • Design and implement integration solutions for performance and event management using BPPM notification and enrichment policies for various types of customization
  • Analyze environment and event data to fine tune and reduce event counts
  • Maintain the automation systems and respond to user requests for modifications, additional monitoring and deletions.
  • Configure integrations to ITSM solutions (ServiceNow)
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new monitoring capabilities.
  • Provide level 2 support for enterprise systems monitoring solutions with an on-call rotation.
  • Develop and demonstrate an understanding of customer and business needs.
  • Develop and enhance cooperative interdepartmental and vendor relationships and communications
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and potential impact on ESM


  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience in an IT Data Center including operational and support experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering degree.
  • Strong experience with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management (BPPM), TrueSight Infrastructure Management, TrueSight Operations Manager, TrueSight Capacity
  • Optimization, Patrol Configuration Manager, and other tools in the BMC TrueSight suite.
  • Intermediate experience with BMC Application Visibility Manager, IT Data Analytics and Middleware Management
  • Experience with other Enterprise Systems Management or ITOM tools such as IBM Netcool/ITNM, CA Wily Introscope, Splunk, and HP SiteScope.
  • Strong experience in installation configuration and management of Patrol agent KMs for Linux, AIX, Solaris, Oracle, and others as required
  • Scripting experience with Perl and Patrol Scripting Language (PSL)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and RedHat Linux Operating Systems
  • Good understanding of web services (rest, soap, etc.)
  • Good understanding of Cloud monitoring technologies
  • Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to manage multiple projects and work with multiple teams.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and interpersonal skills; high level of trustworthiness and integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear instructions, document processes and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, business management, leadership and customer service skills including consensus building and facilitation skills.
  • Skilled in multi-tasking and self managing a diverse workload.
  • ITIL certification preferred.
