Safeway Philtech Inc. was inaugurated on April 1, 2003 as a technology center of Safeway US and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Philtech develops software solutions based on the needs of our onshore business partners. Philtech also provides testing and maintenance services to ensure the quality and usability of the company’s systems.
Another major service provided by Philtech is the management of retail laboratory facilities. Various retail hardware and system applications are tested and made ready for implementation before they are rolled-out to our stores in the US.
In March 2014, a company milestone was reached through the merger agreement between Albertsons and Safeway. The newly combined company, now called Albertsons Companies, operates over 2,200 grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel stations in 33 US states and the district of Columbia. These stores fall under 18 well-known banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME Markets, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, and Carrs.
In this new organization, Philtech continues to provide the smartest and most secure IT solutions for managing mission-critical information across the retail enterprise.
