DevOps Senior Manager

SUMMARY:

DevOps Senior Manager: Administratively and operationally manages a team that provides DevOps engineering, support, and management of infrastructure applications of Safeway (i.e. Cloud resources of the portfolio and its corresponding resources including virtual machines and server operating systems, database, containers and its CI/CD pipelines. Organizes the interdepartmental activities ensuring metrics are within SLAs. Oversees and ensures successful delivery of projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Leadership and Strategy: Develop and communicate the DevOps strategy aligned with the overall business objectives. Provide leadership and guidance to the DevOps team, ensuring a shared vision and collaboration across departments.
2. Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing DevOps team. – Define roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for team members. – Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
3. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate with other departments (development, operations, QA, security) to align DevOps practices with organizational goals. – Communicate effectively with executives, managers, and team members.
4. Toolchain and Technology: Evaluate, select, and implement DevOps tools and technologies that streamline development, testing, and deployment processes. Ensure the team is proficient in using and maintaining these tools effectively.
5. Process Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize the DevOps processes, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement. – Implement and refine Agile and DevOps practices to enhance efficiency and speed of delivery.
6. Automation and Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD): Drive the implementation of automation throughout the software development lifecycle. – Oversee the design and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable software releases.
7. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Promote the use of Infrastructure as Code principles to manage and provision infrastructure in a scalable and repeatable manner.
8. Security and Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to integrate security practices into the DevOps pipeline. – Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
9. Monitoring and Incident Response: Implement and manage monitoring solutions for applications and infrastructure. – Develop and maintain incident response plans to minimize downtime.
10. Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Manage budgets for DevOps initiatives, ensuring optimal resource allocation. – Align resource needs with strategic goals and project requirements.
11. Training and Development: Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the DevOps team. – Provide training opportunities for team members to enhance their skills.

ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of projects, requirements, and requests.
  • Identify, recommend, and execute administrative and operational improvements that result to increase in productivity, quality, cost-reduction and/or simplification.
  • Identify training and development of the team members.
  • Give strategic direction to the team
  • Create strategy especially on workload balancing during peak weeks (e.g. SLC migration deliverables)
  • Handle operational and administrative concerns.
  • Stay on top of the currently approved budget for trainings, travel and etc.
  • Participate in budget forecasting.
  • Hand in hand with HR, handle recruitment, performance appraisal, termination and other HR related matters
  • Strike the balance/ alignment of Onshore/Offshore Objectives.
  • Relay operational and administrative updates both upward and downward
  • Establish healthy collaboration with the group in Manila and US groups.
